Born in 1989

Today when I walked into AP Physics, the lights in the classroom were off. I said "Darkness falls across the land / the midnight hour is at hand."

The students started to guess where it was from, and guesses included Hamlet, Macbeth, Julius Caesar, and Richard IV [sic]. The only 20th-century guess was Black Sabbath.

  1. I was born in 1979 and took AP Physics in 1997, and wouldn't have recognized it.

  2. I was born in the early 80's, took AP Physics in the late 90's, and wouldn't have recognized it until last year, thanks to this being passed around the Internet.

Did your students just add Jacko to the canon of great poets and playwrights?
