New midrash halacha discovered!
Recent excavations have unearthed this hitherto missing text from Sifra on Leviticus 23 that casts doubts on the validity of yom tov sheni:
מקראי קדש אשר תקראו אתם -- יכול כל יום שרוצה ישראל לקרא מקרא קדש יקרא תלמוד לומר במועדם
i appreciated the humor. also: i may be co-facilitating a teach/learn session at either northern or southern jitw about "how communicate effectively across jewish paradigms". maybe chaim should attend.
ha ha ha :-P
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if this was meant as a joke or not, but even if it was true, that does not justify your anti-halachik stance. Halacha does not change.

ReplyDeleteSorry I'll miss the session. Will it be blogged?
ReplyDeleteWhen did "blog" get so transitive?
ReplyDeleteThis use of "blog" as a passive verb is from May 2004. Can anyone find an earlier instance?
ReplyDeleteKetiv hacha:
ReplyDeleteHalacha does not change.
Uchtiv hatam:
Chazal had the power to uproot a chiyuv min hatorah when they saw fit.
Kashya Reb Chaim a-Reb Chaim!
