Yosef Caro was one clever bastard
The section of the Shulchan Aruch dealing with public fasts called for various emergencies, on which the shofar is sounded, is Orach Chayim siman 576 (תקעו).
Have you ever heard of the book Joseph Caro: Lawyer, Mystic, something or other that discusses that he had an imaginary friend, the "maggid mishna" that he talked to?
